Overview
This standard specifies the dimensions, characteristic values, requirements and tests for circular connectors M8 with a rated voltage up to 60 V and a rated current up to 3 A. These connectors have a screw- or snap-locking and are usually used for process measurement and process controlling in industry. They consist of receptacles and plugs - either rewireable or non-rewireable. The male connectors have circular contacts with diameters of 0,6 mm, 0,7 mm and 1,0 mm. The major modification with respect to the previous edition of this standard is the incorporation of 3 new types with A coding with 6, 7 and 8 contacts. The responsible committee is DKE/K 651 "Steckverbinder" ("Connectors") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
