Semi-rigid coaxial communication cables with solid dielectric and a dielectric of a combination of plastic and air are commonly used in microwave or wireless equipment or other devices for signal transmission at frequencies above 500 MHz. The standard contains specifications for materials and cable design, requirements for the finished cable, test methods and information for quality assessment. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 412.3 "Koaxialkabel - und leitungen" ("Coaxial cables") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.

Replacement amendments

This document replaces DIN EN 61196-2:2004-07 .
