The purpose of this part of IEC 61300 is to describe the procedure required to measure the spring compression force of the coupling sleeve for rectangular ferrule multi-fibre connectors. The standard thus provides investment protection for manufacturers and users and it gives definite testing information to manufacturers and test laboratories. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 412.7 "LWL-Verbindungstechnik und passive optische Komponenten" ("Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
