This part of IEC 61300 specifies the procedure required to measure the guide pin retention force for rectangular ferrule multi-fibre connectors in order to ensure that the pins remain in place during mating and unmating. The standard provides manufacturers and users with investment security and test laboratories and manufacturers with detailed information on testing. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 412.7 "LWL-Verbindungstechnik und passive optische Komponenten" ("Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) of DIN and VDE.
