This standard applies to outerwear used as ESD protection. It describes test methods for assessing the electrical resistance of garments that have conductive surfaces or contain charge-dissipating components or materials used in the electronics industry for controlled electrostatic discharge. It defines methods for measuring electrical resistance including a system resistance test for clothing that provides an earthing path for personnel. The responsible committee is DKE/K 185 "Elektrostatik" ("Electrostatics") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
