Overview
This part of IEC 61375 deals with the data communication network inside a Consist. It specifies this Ethernet Consist Network (ECN) which is based on Ethernet technology. The applicability of this part of DIN EN 61375 to Consist Networks allows for interoperability of individual vehicles within Open Trains in international traffic. The standard is also applicable to closed trains and Multiple Unit Trains when so agreed between purchaser and supplier. The responsible committee is Subcommittee DKE/UK 351.1 "Fahrzeuge" ("Rolling stock") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
