This part of IEC 61508 contains an overview of various safety techniques and measures relevant to the application of IEC 61508-2 and IEC 61508-3. The responsible Committee is GK 914 "Funktionale Sicherheit elektrischer, elektronischer und programmierbarer elektronischer Systeme (E, E, PES) zum Schutz von Personen und Umwelt" ("Functional safety of electrical, electronic and programmable electronic systems (E, E, PES) for protection of humans and the environment") of the DKE.
