This part of IEC 61746 specifies methods for the calibration of multimode optical time domain reflectometers (OTDR). It only describes OTDR measurement errors and uncertainties. The test of the laser(s) source modal condition is included as an optional measurement. The responsible Committee is K 412 "Kommunikationskabel (Kabel, Leitungen, Wellenleiter, Lichtwellenleiter, Komponenten, Zubehör und Anlagentechnik für die Nachrichten- und Informationsübertragung)" ("Communication cables (Cables, lines, waveguides, fibre optic cables, components, accessories and installation technology for telecommunications and information transmission)") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Informational Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
