Overview
This part of IEC 61753 contains the minimum initial test and measurement requirements and severities which a fibre optic attenuator satisfies in order to be categorized as meeting the requirements of single-mode fibre, plug-style fixed attenuator devices used in uncontrolled environments. The optical performance specified in this standard relates to plug-style configurations optical attenuators only. The standard contains the minimum requirements, the details and severities for 16 different tests. Thus, the standard provides manufacturers and users with investment security and test laboratories and manufacturers with detailed information on testing. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 412.7 "LWL-Verbindungstechnik und passive optische Komponenten" ("Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
