This standard contains the minimum initial test and measurement requirements and severities which a fibre optic attenuator satisfies in order to be categorised as meeting the requirements of single-mode fibre non-connectorized fixed attenuator devices used in outside plant environments. This standard contains the minimum requirements, details and test severities for 14 different tests. The standard therefore offers investment security for manufacturers and users and provides test laboratories and manufacturers with defined information on testing. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 412.7 "LWL-Verbindungstechnik und passive optische Komponenten" ("Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive optical components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
