This part of IEC 61753 contains the minimum initial test and measurement requirements and severities which a fibre optic middle-scale 1×N (16 ≤ N ≤ 64) DWDM (dense wavelength division multiplexing) device with channel spacing of 50 GHz, 100 GHz or 200 GHz needs to satisfy in order to be categorized as meeting the requirements of category C - Controlled environment. The requirements apply for DWDM devices with Gaussian passband profile and flat-top passband profile. The requirements cover devices with single-mode nonconnectorized pigtails and no circuit board. The standard contains the minimum requirements, details as well as the severity levels for 24 different tests. Thus, the standard provides manufacturers and users with investment security and test laboratories and manufacturers with detailed information on testing. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 412.7 "LWL-Verbindungstechnik und passive optische Komponenten" ("Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive optical components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
