Overview
This part of IEC 61753 provides the minimum test and measurement requirements and test severity levels that a cyclic array waveguide grating (AWG) shall satisfy in order to be classified as meeting the requirements of the IEC Category C standard in controlled environments. The requirements apply to devices with pluggable connecting fibers and without electrical circuit boards. The standard contains the minimum requirements, details and test severities for 24 different tests. Thus the standard provides investment security for manufacturers and users and gives test laboratories and manufacturers defined details for testing. The responsible committee is Subcommittee DKE/UK 412.7 "LWL-Verbindungstechnik und passive optische Komponenten" ("Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive optical components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
