This part of IEC 61754 covers general information on the subject of fibre optic connector interfaces. It includes references, definitions and rules for creating and interpreting the standard drawings. The standard provides manufacturers and testing laboratories with the stability in defining the term test and is used as a reference in quality assurance. The responsible body is DKE/UK 412.7 "LWL-Verbindungstechnik und passive optische Komponenten" ("Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive optic components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
