This part of IEC 61754 specifies the standardized dimensions of the connector interfaces of the DiaLink connector family. The output connector for the DiaLink connector family is a simplex connector characterized by a nominal ferrule diameter of 1,25 mm. It contains a push-pull coupling mechanism that is spring-loaded with respect to the ferrule in the direction of the optical axis. To provide adequate contact force, one of the parts containing the ferrules is spring-loaded. The other part contains a fixed ferrule. The optical alignment mechanism of the connectors is designed as an elastic sleeve and is attached directly to the fixed ferrule counterpart. The drawings and dimensions listed in this document indicate the minimum characteristics that are decisive for the function during the plugging and unplugging processes of the plug and its adapter/socket counterpart. The standard thus offers investment security for manufacturers and users and provides test laboratories and manufacturers with defined information for testing. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 412.7 "LWL-Verbindungstechnik und passive optische Komponenten" ("Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive optical components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
