Overview

The International Standard has been prepared at IEC/SC 62B "Diagnostic imaging equipment" with thze German collaboration of Joint Committee NAR/DKE NA 080-00-14 GA "Informationsverarbeitung" ("Information Processing"). Consideration was given by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) together with the DICOM Standards Committee to improve dose documentation. Amendment 94 to the DICOM standard was adopted in 2005 and incorporated into the 2006 edition of the standard. The DICOM standard provides a technical format for storing the entire description of the dose required for the use of individual imaging procedures. The standard applies to structured radiation dose reports generated by an X-ray facility that falls within the scope of IEC 60601-2-43 or IEC 60601-2-54. This standard provides specific units and quantities and prescribes data storage formats. The objective of this standard is to define the minimum data set to be used for specifying dosimetric and related information associated with the generation of images in projection radiography. The first edition of the International Standard IEC 61910 replaces the specification IEC/PAS 61910. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 080-00-14 GA Gemeinschaftsausschuss NAR/DKE "Informationsverarbeitung" (Joint Committee NAR/DKE ("Information Processing") at DIN Standards Committee Radiology (NAR) in collaboration with Deutsche Röntgengesellschaft (German Radiological Society) and the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE and in collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nuklearmedizin e. V. (DGN) (German Society of Nuclear Medicine), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Medizinische Physik e. V. (DGMP) (German Society for Medical Physics) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Radioonkologie e. V. (DEGRO) (German Society for Radio Oncology).
