This part of IEC 61937 specifies the method to convey non-linear PCM bitstreams encoded in accordance with the MPEG-4 audio lossless coding (ALS) format via interface according to IEC 60958. The MPEG-4 audio datablocks are specified. The specific characteristics, for example, reference point, repetition interval, method for filling the gaps in the data stream and the decoding latency are given for every data type. The responsible committee is K 742 "Audio-, Video- und Multimediasysteme, -geräte und -komponenten" ("Audio, video and multimedia systems, equipment and components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) of DIN and VDE.
