Overview
This part of IEC 61988 determines the measuring methods for characterizing the performance of plasma display panel (PDP) modules in the following areas: a) viewing angle; the purpose of this method is the measurement of the horizontal and vertical half luminance viewing angle, half contrast viewing angle, 10:1 contrast ratio viewing angle and colour of the plasma display panels. b) image streaking; the purpose of this method is the measurement of the image streaking of PDP modules. c) flicker; the purpose of this method is the measurement of the luminance modulation causing the flicker of the PDP module; d) moving picture resolution; the purpose of this method is the measurement of the moving pictures solution. The method defined includes a subjective and objective method. The responsible committee is K 742 "Audio-, Video- und Multimediasysteme, -geräte und -komponenten" ("Audio, video and multimedia systems, equipment and components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
