Overview

This standard describes the requirements and tests for devices for the connection of luminaires (DCL) for household and similar purposes. With a rated current not exceeding 16 A in final circuits and without mechanical support for the luminaire, these stationary luminaires are classified as Class I or Class II. The classification of the DCL according to the application is based on the IP rating in EN 60529. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 542.1 "Schalter und Steckvorrichtungen für den Hausgebrauch und ähnliche Zwecke" ("Switches and plug/socket connections for household and similar use") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
