DIN EN 62148-15:2015-03

This standard covers the physical dimension and interface specifications for the discrete vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) devices in optical telecommunication and optical data transmission applications. The intent of this standard is to adequately describe the physical requirements of a VCSEL device that will enable mechanical interchangeability of laser devices or transmitters complying with this standard. Interchangeability refers to the requirements for the printed circuit wiring board and panel-mounting. The significant modification with respect to the first edition of the standard is the inclusion of VCSEL TOSA packages with high transfer speeds (8 Gbit/s and 10 Gbit/s). This standard is directed at manufacturers, users and test laboratories. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 412.2 "Komponenten für Kommunikationskabelanlagen" ("Components for communication cable installations") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
