Overview
This part of IEC 62271 is applicable to a.c. series capacitor by-pass switches designed for outdoor installation and for operation at frequencies of 50 Hz and 60 Hz on systems having voltages above 52 kV. It is only applicable to by-pass switches for use in three-phase systems. This standard is also applicable to the operating devices of by-pass switches and to their auxiliary equipment. The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN EN 62271-109 (VDE 0671-109):2010-01: - 7.3.106 "Peak value of the transient by-pass current" has been replaced; - 4.101 "Rated operating sequence" has been modified; - 4.102 "Rated by-pass making current" has been amended; - Annex E "By-pass switches used as the primary by-passing devices" has been replaced. The responsible committee is Subcommittee DKE/UK 432.1 "Hochspannungs-Schaltgeräte" ("High-voltage switchgear") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
