Overview

This standard concerns the safety of primary and secondary lithium cells and batteries during transportation, and also the safety of the packaging used. It specifies test procedures and requirements for lithium primary and (rechargeable) secondary cells and batteries to ensure their safety during transport, except for recycling or disposal. This group safety standard is intended to harmonize the tests and requirements applicable to transport. The responsible committee is DKE/K 372 "Primärbatterien" ("Primary batteries") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
