Overview

The DIN EN 62439 standard series specifies basics for high availability industry automation networks. In fault-free condition, these protocols provide for a ISO/IEC 8802-3 (IEEE 802.3) compatible communication as well as mechanisms for real time communication. In case of an error of insertion or removal of a component they recover within specified periods. This standard specifies the Parallel Redundancy Protocol and High-availability Seamless Redundancy. DKE/K 956 "Feldbus" ("Fieldbus") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE is responsible.
