Overview
This part of IEC 62496 describes the performance of flexible optical circuit boards (FOCB) using unconnectorized optical glass fibres for Category C, controlled environment. In this standard, requirements for the levels of quality of flexible optical circuit boards with optical glass fibres are explained. The test standard provides manufacturers and test laboratories with security regarding the definition of the relative intensity noise and serves as a reference for quality assurance. The standard refers to the standards of the 61300 series (Basic test and measurement procedures).The responsible Committee is K 412 "Kommunikationskabel (Kabel, Leitungen, Wellenleiter, Lichtwellenleiter, Komponenten, Zubehör und Anlagetechnik für die Nachrichten- und Informationsübertragung)" ("Communication cables (Cables, wires, waveguides, fibre optics, components, equipment and installation technology for the transmission of news and information)") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Informational Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
