Overview
The responsible Committee is K 742 "Audio-, Video- und Multimediasysteme, -geräte und - komponenten" ("Audio, video and multimedia systems, equipment and components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Informational Technologies) at DIN and VDE. This standard describes the general guidelines for typical applications of home multimedia gateways in home networks which support IP networks. The document specifies recommended functions and services which are supported by home multimedia gateways and, where it seems reasonable, existing standards are referenced which are supported in the market. For general requirements described it is expected that standards and technologies introduced in many fields shall be considered by developers. This standard is applicable for home multimedia gateways in home networks or in networks in comparable environments.
