This International Standard specifies the essential characteristics of household refrigerating appliances, factory-assembled and cooled by internal natural convection or forced air circulation. It specifies the test methods for checking these characteristics. The described tests are type tests, and because of this, when verification of the performance of a refrigerating appliance of a given type in relation to this standard is necessary, it is preferable, wherever practicable, that all the tests described be applied to a single unit. These tests can also be made individually for the study of a particular characteristic. In comparison with EN 153:2006-05 and DIN EN ISO 15502:2006-01 the following significant technical changes have been made: a) new compartment: zero star; b) new compartment: wine storage, combined with requirements for vibration, temperature fluctuation, humidity and variations; c) new compartment: pantry; d) new compartment: multi-use; e) new compartment: through-the-door-devices; f) requirements for circumvention. The responsible committee is DKE/GUK 513.6 "Refrigerating appliances" of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
