Overview

WIA-PA defines the system architecture and a communication protocol based on IEEE 802.15.4. The lower level consists of star topologies, the central point of each of which is a routing device which itself is networked in the upper level in a meshed topology, which in turn is connected to the cable network via a gateway device. Frequency hopping is used for the radio interface. The responsible committee is DKE/K 956 "Feldbus" ("Fieldbus") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
