This International Standard specifies an interchange format for e-dictionaries among publishers, content creators and manufacturers. Data formats for reading devices, elements necessary for final print reproduction only, rendering issues related to physical devices, security issues such as DRM for documents are not covered. The responsible committee is K 742 "Audio-, Video- und Multimediasysteme, -geräte und -komponenten" ("Audio, video and multimedia systems, equipment and components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
