Overview

In industrial plants today, systems according to the most diverse protocols such as in DIN EN 62591 (WirelessHART) and other systems according to IEEE 802.15.4 shall work together, in the presence of general wireless communication according to IEEE 802.11 and other manufacturer-specific communication systems or also microwave devices. The former are characterized by special requirements with regard to real-time behavior. This document supports the user in the selection and operation of industrial wireless communication systems in order to achieve coexistence between them. The responsible committee is DKE/K 956 "Feldbus" ("Fieldbus") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
