Overview

The power conversion equipment (PCE) discussed in this document may be grid-interactive, which is referred to as a grid connected power converter (GCPC) or as a stand-alone power converter. It can be supplied by single or multiple photovoltaic modules grouped in various array configurations, and can be intended for use in conjunction with batteries or other forms of energy storage. This document covers not only PCE connected to a public low voltage AC mains network or other low voltage AC mains installation, but also PCE connected to a medium or high voltage AC network with or without step-down power transformers. This document specifies requirements for PCEs connected to a medium-voltage AC power supply. However, some requirements relating to power connections are addressed in other standards that specify power quality or their own power connection rules in some countries. This document specifies requirements for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) for power conversion equipment (PCE) for use in photovoltaic (PV) power supply systems with or without direct current-coupled electrical energy storage devices. DC/DC converters used in PV systems are not covered by this document. They may generate electromagnetic disturbances due to conducted disturbances at DC connections. The standard differs from DIN EN 62920 (VDE 0126-131):2018-07 and DIN EN 62920/A11 (VDE 0126-131/A11):2021-02 as follows: a) the scope of this document has been expanded to include the following technical points: - DC power converters for use in photovoltaic energy systems; - electrical energy storage devices connected to DC power supply connections of PCEs for use in photovoltaic energy systems; b) addition of the latest possibilities for the measurement distance of radiated disturbances by taking into account the latest updates to CISPR 16-1-4 and CISPR 16-2-3 to adapt to different product sizes. The PCE are evaluated with EMC requirements as type tests at a test site. This document provides test methods and test conditions for both PCE and emission and immunity requirements, but not for photovoltaic modules and other system peripheral assemblies. If, for technical reasons, compliance with EMC requirements cannot be demonstrated at the test site, then PCEs may be evaluated on site, for example at the manufacturer's premises or on site where the PCEs are to be installed in PV power supply systems. However, DIN EN 55011 (VDE 0875 11):2017-03 only specifies requirements for high-frequency EMC for on-site evaluations.
