Overview

This document applies to self-commutated valves, for use in voltage sourced converter (VSC) for static synchronous compensator (STATCOM). It is restricted to electrical type and production tests. The standard differs from DIN EN 62927 (VDE 0553-927):2018-05 and DIN EN 62927 Correction 1 (VDE 0553-927 Correction 1):2018-07 as follows: a) short-circuit current test is no longer optional; b) update of normative references; c) adjustment of the description in 4.1.6 Test object; d) In Subclause 4.10 "should" has been replaced by "shall"; e) in Subclause 4.4, explanation of "error" has been added; f) Subclauses 6.3, 6.4, 6.5, 7.2, 8.3, 9.1, 9.2, 9.4.1.2, 9.4.2, 10.3, 12, 12.1, 12.3, 13.4 have been edited/revised and adapted; g) Subclause 7.3.3 Lightning impulse test of the valve base and 8.4.3 Lightning impulse test of the MVU have been added; h) Subclause 9.3.3, Method 2, Note on insulation and partial discharge testing has been added; i) In Subclause 9.4.1.3 a formula has been corrected/replaced; j) Subclause 10.2 has been revised; k) In Annex B, point g) “Leakage of small quantities of valve coolant” has been revised; l) The Bibliography has been supplemented. For other types of valves, the test requirements and acceptance criteria are agreed between the purchaser and the supplier.
