Overview

During its service life, preservative-treated wood can be exposed to conditions which may cause the volatilization and removal of the wood preservative thereby reducing its effectiveness. For test specimens that are to be subjected to biological testing, DIN EN 73 specifies a laboratory procedure for accelerated aging through evaporation ageing. Amendment A1 clarifies the arrangement of the test specimens during testing. The responsible national standardization committee is Working Committee NA 042-03-06 AA "Spiegelausschuss zu CEN/TC 38 Dauerhaftigkeit von Holz und Holzprodukten" ("Mirror Committee of CEN/TC 38 Durability of wood and wood-based products") at DIN Standards Committee Timber and Furniture (NHM).
