This standard applies to the BASIC SAFETY and ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE of DENTAL UNITS, DENTAL PATIENT CHAIRS, DENTAL HANDPIECES and DENTAL OPERATING LIGHTS, hereafter referred to as DENTAL EQUIPMENT. The purpose of these Particular Requirements is to establish specific requirements for basic safety and essential performance of dental equipment. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 812.8 "Medical supply units" of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
