This part of the IEC 60068 series of standards contains a description of the test methods for testing electrical equipment or components under multi-excited and multi-axis vibrations or similar loads. A test in accordance with DIN EN IEC 60068-2-86 (VDE 0468-2-86) should be applied to products that may be exposed to dynamic stresses during their service life. Two different approaches are used to approximate real-life stresses: multiple excitation, single-axis (MESA) and multiple excitation, multi-axis (MEMA). Effects directly related to fire or explosions are the responsibility of another technical committee. The standard 60068-2-86 is available here in its first edition and contains new test methods for dynamic vibration stresses; as such, there is currently no application experience that has emerged as typical.
