Overview

This part of IEC 60076 applies to dry type natural air-cooled resistors, for neutral grounding of transformers and generators, in order to limit the earth fault current in power systems by means of metallic resistive elements. Unless otherwise specified, this document applies to transformers operated under the conditions specified in IEC 60076-1 for normal operation. Restrictions also apply to use at altitudes above 1 000 m above normal sea level. In this case, corrections to the insulation levels in accordance with IEC 60071-2 shall be taken into account. This document helps to define requirements for neutral grounding resistors. In particular, it provides guidance on requirements regarding operating conditions, the corresponding tests, and labeling.
