This document recognizes the internationally accepted level of protection against hazards, such as electrical, mechanical, and thermal hazards, as well as fire and radiation hazards posed by electrical equipment when operated properly in accordance with the instructions for use. It also covers unusual situations that are nevertheless to be expected in practice and takes the ways in which electromagnetic phenomena can affect the safe operation of equipment into consideration. This document does not apply to devices intended for medical use. Typical applications include devices for controlling hair growth that are intended for use in beauty salons and similar locations.
