This standard is part of a series of standards dealing with insulating tubes for electrical applications. The series consists of three parts: Part 1: Definitions and general requirements (IEC 60684-1); Part 2: Methods of test (IEC 60684-2); Part 3: Specifications for individual types of sleeving (IEC 60684-3). This standard contains two of the sheets that belong to Part 3 of this series of standards: Sheet 116: Extruded polychloroprene sleeving - general purpose: thin-walled and Sheet 117: Extruded polychloroprene sleeving - general purpose: thick-walled. The standard contains the requirements for the properties and dimensions as well as for the designation of non-heat-shrinkable sleeving extruded from a mixture based on polychloroprene elastomers. Sleeving of this type is normally available with internal diameters up to 25 mm, and in the following opaque colours: black, brown, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, grey, white and pink. Sizes or colours other than those specifically listed in this document can possibly be available as custom items. Materials which conform to this specification meet established levels of performance. However, the selection of a material by a user for a specific application will be based on the actual requirements necessary for adequate performance in the application and not based on the specification alone. In this edition, Table 2 has been updated and a test for fluid resistance has been added. The standard contains the requirements for the properties and dimensions as well as for the designation of non-heat-shrinkable sleeving extruded from a mixture based on polychloroprene elastomers. The standard differs from DIN EN 60684-3-116 (VDE 0341-3-116):2012-05 as follows: a) update of clause references in Table 2; b) addition of resistance to fluids test. Non-heat-shrinkable sleeving extruded from a mixture based on polychloroprene elastomers is usually available with internal diameters up to 25 mm, and in the following opaque colours: black, brown, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, grey, white and pink.
