Overview

This part of the 60721 series of standards deals with the selection of appropriate classes of parameters and severity levels in relation to vibrations and shocks caused by earthquakes for affected electrical products. It is based on the classification system of DIN EN IEC 60721-1. First, the standard specifies properties and quantities that are suitable for characterizing earthquakes for the purpose of classifying equipment for testing, for example, in accordance with DIN EN IEC 60068-3-3 "Seismic test methods for equipment" or, where applicable, other parts of the series on vibration. All conditions of product use, including storage, are taken into account. There are no outstanding examples of the application of DIN EN IEC 60721-2-6 due to the general classification of classification properties.
