DIN EN IEC 60966-4:2025-06

This part of IEC 60966 is a sectional specification that relates to semi-rigid coaxial cable assemblies operating in the transverse electromagnetic mode (TEM). It contains specifications with regard to design and construction, IEC type designation, processing, marking and packaging, standardized rated values and characteristic values, electrical, mechanical, and environmental requirements for finished semi-rigid assembled cables, quality assessment, delivery and storage, etcetera. This part of IEC 60966 applies to semi-rigid assembled cables composed of semi-rigid coaxial cables and coaxial connectors. Semi-rigid assembled cables are widely used in mobile communication systems, microwave test equipment, radar technology, aerospace, and other fields. For the purposes of this sectional specification an assembled cable is always considered as a single, coherent unit. All specifications apply to the finished assembled cable and not to its individual, still unconnected parts. This sectional specification should be supplemented by detail specifications that describe additional details as required for particular applications. These applications do not necessarily require all tests. The sectional specification specifies which parameters (electrical, mechanical, and environmental test values, rated values, or characteristics) shall be stated in the detail specification. Superordinate values are included. A reference to the relevant IEC standard and to a blank detail specification is provided to this end. There are no restrictions on the scope of application of the document. The standard differs from DIN EN 60966-4:2004-06 as follows: a) subclause 4.3, "Relative positional dimensions of the interface" added; b) Figure 2 added; c) Clause 6, "IEC type designation" added; d) Figure 3 modified; e) Clause 7, "Rated values and characteristic values" added; f) "Requirements/remarks" added to all tests in Clause 8; g) "Corona breakdown voltage" added in Table 3; h) test tables reworded; i) Annex A and Annex B added. Application of this document increases investment security for manufacturers and users, provides testing laboratories and manufacturers with defined test specifications, and ensures compatibility across manufacturers.
