Overview

DIN EN IEC 60974-1 (VDE 0544-1) applies to welding power sources for arc welding and related processes for commercial use, which are supplied with a voltage not exceeding 1 000 V, battery-powered or mechanically driven. It specifies safety and performance requirements for the construction of welding power sources and plasma cutting systems. The standard does not apply to the testing of power sources during regular maintenance or after repair. Nor does it apply to welding power sources for arc welding and plasma cutting with limited duty cycles, which are primarily intended for use by laymen and are designed in accordance with IEC 60974-6. This Amendment A12 replaces Annex ZZA of the standard on the relationship between this European Standard and the safety objectives of Directive 2014/35/EU to be covered.
