This part of IEC 61300 provides a test to determine the corrosion resistance of the metals used in the construction of fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive components which include connectors, field mountable connectors (FMC), passive components, splices, hardened connectors, street cabinets, boxes and closures. This document determines if dissimilar metals have been well finished to prevent corrosion. The requirements of the tests for these devices are defined in IEC 61753-1. The test requirements for these components are specified in IEC 61753-1. The standard describes the test setup, pre-treatment, test conditions, monitoring, recovery time, final measurement, test severity, and measurement uncertainties, as well as details on the test report. There are no restrictions on the scope of application of the document. The standard differs from DIN EN 61300-2-26:2008-02 as follows: a) addition of Clause 3, Terms; b) harmonization with IEC 61753-1:2018 and addition of Table 2; c) harmonization with IEC 60068-2-11:2021. The standard increases investment security for manufacturers and users through its application and provides test laboratories and manufacturers with defined specifications for testing and ensures compatibility across manufacturers.
This document replaces DIN EN 61300-2-26:2008-02 .
