This part of IEC 61753 contains the minimum initial test and measurement requirements and severities which a fibre optic middle-scale 1 × N (16 ≤ N ≤ 64) DWDM (dense wavelength division multiplexing) arrayed waveguide grating device with channel spacing of 50 GHz, 100 GHz or 200 GHz satisfies in order to be categorized as meeting the requirements of category OP (outdoor protected environment). The requirements are given for the DWDM devices with Gaussian passband profile and flat-top passband profile. The requirements exclude the devices with dynamic electrical temperature control. Fiber optic connectors and other elements of the optical transmission path are precision components whose operating behavior is critical to their functionality. Test requirements are published in the DIN EN IEC 61300 series. The requirements for operating behavior can be found in the DIN EN IEC 61753 series of standards. It specifies electrical, mechanical, and environmental test values, rated values, or characteristics. For this purpose, reference is made to the relevant IEC standard and the values for the corresponding parameter are specified. There are no restrictions on the scope of application of the document. The application of this document increases investment security for manufacturers and users, provides testing laboratories and manufacturers with defined test specifications, and ensures compatibility across manufacturers.
