DIN EN IEC 61754-6:2024-03

This part of IEC 61754 specifies the standardized dimensions of the connector interfaces for the MU connector family type. Fiber optic connectors and other elements of the optical transmission path are precision components whose operating performance is critical to their functionality. Test requirements are published in the DIN EN IEC 61300 series of standards. The requirements for operating performance can be found in the DIN EN IEC 61753 series of standards. It specifies mechanical and environmental test values, rated values or characteristics. For this purpose, the reference to the relevant IEC standard is given, as well as the values for the corresponding parameter. The standard specifies the performance parameters for attenuation and backscatter behavior of a plugged connection - thus allowing the classification of this connection and definition of its possible uses. There are no restrictions in the scope of the document. The standard differs from DIN EN 61754-6:2014-05 as follows: a) The test procedure according to IEC 61300-3-22 for the spring force of the ferrule (ferrule compression force) has been added; b) Annex D (informative) with requirements for the dimensions of the mounting cutout for tests of the stability of the mounting of an assembled adapter has been added. The standard increases investment security for manufacturers and users through its application and provides test laboratories and manufacturers with defined specifications for testing and ensures compatibility across manufacturer boundaries.
