This document contains an information model for DER that can be used in both simple DER facilities and more complex systems with multiple types of DER with different resource capabilities, operational functions, and internal facility interactions. In addition, this document contains important information on how these interactions and functions are modeled, while IEC 61850-7-520 contains additional use cases to help clarify the various interactions that this information model can support. The information concepts described in this document focus on DER, but may also be applied to centralized generation facilities consisting of groupings of multiple units of the same types of energy conversion systems covered in this document. The document differs from DIN EN 61850-7-420:2009-10 as follows: a) general modeling approach to support all types of DER, including generation, storage, and controllable loads; b) general approach to support the physical and virtual aggregation of DER; c) full support for a wide range of operational functions to cover, in particular, grid code functions as specified in IEEE 1547 and EN 50549 or IEC 62786. Communication for DER installations includes not only local communication between DER units and the installation management system, but also communication between the DER installation and the operators or aggregators that control the DER installation as a virtual source of energy and/or ancillary services.
This document replaces DIN EN 61850-7-420:2009-10 .
