This part of IEC 61969 specifies a set of basic environmental requirements and tests, as well as safety aspects for outdoor enclosures for electrical and electronic equipment, under conditions of non-weatherprotected locations above ground. The purpose of this document is to define a minimum level of environmental performance in order to meet requirements of storage, transport and final installation. The intention is to establish basic environmental performance criteria for outdoor enclosure compliance. The standard specifies mechanical and environmental test values, rating values, or characteristics. For this purpose, reference is made to the relevant IEC standard and the values for the corresponding parameter are specified. There are no restrictions on the scope of application of the document. The standard differs from DIN EN IEC 61969-3 (VDE 0687-969-3):2021-05 as follows: a) adaptation to the content of the latest editions of ETSI EN 300019 and the IEC 60721 series of standards, in particular to the update of the climatic conditions; b) justification for the selected operating conditions according to IEC 60721-3-4 has been added; c) tests have been grouped according to the classification of conditions in IEC 60721-3-4; d) the severity of vibration and shock tests has been compared with ETSI EN 300019-2-4; e) pass/fail criteria have been added for each test. The standard increases investment security for manufacturers and users and provides test laboratories and manufacturers with defined test specifications.
