Overview

This part of the DIN EN 62040 series of standards for uninterruptible power systems (UPS) applies to portable, stationary, fixed, or built-in UPS for use in low-voltage distribution systems intended for installation in user areas or, where suitable, in premises with restricted access, and which provide an output alternating voltage of fixed frequency with connection voltages up to 1 000 V alternating voltage or up to 1 500 V direct voltage and contain an energy storage device. It applies to pluggable and permanently connected UPS, regardless of whether they consist of a system of interconnected units or independent units that are installed, operated, and maintained in the manner specified by the manufacturer. The new subclause 4.6.3.2 "Flammability of protective enclosure materials" from IEC 62477-1:2012 has been adopted with modifications.
