This part of IEC 62561 specifies the requirements and tests for earth electrode inspection housings (earth housings) installed in the earth and for earth electrode seals. This part of IEC 62561 deals with requirements and tests for lightning protection system components (LPSC) and, in particular, inspection housings and earth electrode seals used in the installation of lightning protection systems (LPS) designed and constructed in accordance with IEC 62305 (all parts). Lightning protection system components (LPSC) can also be suitable for use in hazardous atmospheres. For this reason, there are additional requirements when installing the components under such conditions. The standard differs from DIN EN 62561-5 (VDE 0185-561-5):2018-05 as follows: a) a classification of earth electrode seals has been added. The test boxes in this standard are metal or non-metal enclosures that accommodate the connection to the down conductor/earth for inspection and testing purposes and consist of an enclosure with a removable cover. They are intended for use under medium load for slow-moving motor vehicles or under light load for sidewalks. An earth electrode seal here is a pressure water seal in conjunction with an earth electrode that passes through the foundation of the building or the building wall or enters the foundation of the building or the building wall, thus preventing groundwater from entering the building.
This document replaces DIN EN 62561-5:2018-05; VDE 0185-561-5:2018-05 .
