DIN EN IEC/ASTM 62885-6:2025-12

This part of IEC 62885 is applicable for measurements of the performance of wet hard floor cleaning appliances for household use in or under conditions similar to those in households. This document specifies the essential performance characteristics of wet hard floor cleaning appliances and describes methods for measuring these performance characteristics. In the case of appliances with combined functionality, this document only addresses the wet cleaning functionality. This document is not intended for cordless and robotic wet hard floor cleaning appliances. The standard differs from DIN EN IEC/ASTM 62885-6 (VDE 0705-2885-6):2020-10 as follows: a) expansion of the scope to include cordless cleaning appliances; b) modification of the term "cleaning width" to "cleaning path width" in 3.7 and provision of instructions for determining the "cleaning path width" in 4.7.4; c) modification of the term "operating time" to "battery life" in 3.22; d) addition of instructions for IKW soiling and a penalty factor calculation with a correction example for products that exhibit cleaning gaps in subclause 5.1, "Stain removal performance on flat hard floors"; e) modification of the heading of 5.2 from "Dirt absorption effectiveness" to "Cleaning performance on flat hard floors" and addition of comprehensive instructions for performing the procedure; f) addition of 5.3 "Battery life", based on the procedure in IEC 62885-4, for cordless appliances; g) modification of test soiling in 7.2.2 to include IKW and Akzo Nobel soiling. Typical application examples covered by the document: - wet hard floor cleaning appliances; - steam cleaners.
