The owner's manual for small watercraft is intended to provide the owner or operator with the information necessary to operate the watercraft safely and enjoyably. It contains details about the watercraft itself, about accessories supplied or installed, and about its equipment, as well as information about its operation, construction, maintenance, the prevention of hazards, and how to deal with these hazards. This document specifies requirements and information to be included in the owner's manual for small watercraft. This standard has been prepared within the scope of a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association in order to have a means of fulfilling the essential requirements of the Recreational Craft Directive according to the new concept of EU Directive 2013/53/EU. This document specifies relevant requirements of the aforementioned directive for recreational craft in Annex I, A, Subclause 2.5 "Owner's manual". The responsible committee for this document is ISO/TC 188 "Small craft," which is represented nationally by DIN Standards Committee Shipbuilding and Marine Technology (NSMT), Working Committee NA 132-08-01 AA "Small Craft".
This document replaces DIN EN ISO 10240:2020-05 .
