This standard specifies the requirements for determining the maximum propulsion power rating and the maximum maneuvering speed. This part of the standard applies to craft with a length of hull (LH) of less than 8 m. This standard has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association to provide one means of conforming to Essential Requirements of the New Approach Directive 94/25/EC on recreational craft. This standard defines relevant requirements of the aforementioned directive for recreational craft in Annex I with regard to operating characteristics in Clause 4 and with regard to the Owner's Manual in Subclause 2.5. This standard provides manufacturers and purchasers of craft with legal security through the highest presumption of conformity with regard to the relevant part of the legal requirements. This standard is intended to replace the predecessor document DIN EN ISO 11592. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 132-08-01-05 AK "ISO/TC 188/SC 2 Motoren und Antriebssysteme" ("ISO/TC 188/SC 2 Engines and propulsion systems") at DIN.
This document replaces DIN EN ISO 11592:2002-04 .
