This International Standard specifies a method of measuring the area of pieces of leather. It is intended only for the measurement of dressed and other dry flexible leather. This document (EN ISO 11646:2014) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 289 "Leather", the secretariat of which is held by UNI (Italy), in collaboration with the "International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies (IULTCS)". The responsible German body is the Working Committee NA 062-05-51 AA "Anforderungen und physikalische Prüfverfahren für Leder und seine Ausgangsprodukte" ("Requirements and physical test methods of leather and its starting products"), mirror committee for CEN/TC 289 "Leather" at the DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
